Pla d’Urgell Regional Archive (ACPU)
On 13 September 2006, the construction agreement for the Pla d’Urgell Regional Archive (ACPU), part of the Archives Network of the Catalan Goverment (Generalitat de Catalunya), was signed. It was inaugurated on 22 December 2009, and its main mission is to treat, preserve, conserve, disseminate and advise on the documentary heritage of the region. The new building is unique from both an architectural and archival point of view.
The Archive has a useful area of 1,042 m2, distributed over two floors, with a capacity to install 7,525 linear m of documentation, with four document repositories, one for special media and one for large formats. The consultation room has a capacity for 9 users, and there is also an auxiliary library; restricted access areas, such as the disinfestation and disinfection room; a reception and sorting room; a classification room, and a multipurpose classroom with capacity for 50 people.
